Proving to be incredibly popular in the local area, the annual Turkey Derby is a fantastic event taking place over several days in late November. The Wall Stadium Speedway has been host to many classes of exciting car racing since it first opened its doors back in 1950. Not that Wall Township doesn’t have a lot to offer in its own right. In fact, many of the Jersey Shore’s celebrated beach communities were once part of the township, including Belmar, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Brielle and Spring Lake. Wall Township is prized for its ideal location, set so close to the beautiful beaches along the Jersey Shore coastline. Aside from the historic village, the state park also features the Pine Creek Railroad, family campgrounds and numerous hiking trails suitable for all fitness levels. The historic buildings remaining standing to this day include a general store, blacksmith shop, carpenter’s shop, manager’s house, foreman’s house and a church. The Allaire family would gift the parklands to the state to allow the creation of the park.
The park also houses the historic Howell Iron Works, an old bog-iron refinery, owned and operated by park and historic village namesake, James P.
The original settlement in the area, Allaire Village, founded in 1822 has now been immortalized as a living museum in the expansive and similarly named Allaire State Park. He would go on to serve as both quartermaster for the state of New Jersey and as a US Senator. Wall, who commanded the Trenton Volunteer Company in the War of 1812, stationed in Sandy Hook. The township’s long history in the area and stunning natural setting are clear indications of why members of the community love to make their home here.Įstablished back in 1851, the community that 25,000 year-round residents currently call home was named after General Garret D. As a resident this will ruin the wildlife, ecosystems, and the quiet nook of this neighborhood will fall to unneccessary corporate waste.Wall Township has established itself as one of the most desirable places to make a home along the New Jersey Shoreline. If they build a warehouse they will want large carrier planes to land at the airport across the street at Monmouth Jet Center.
This area is well and septic so our grounds and runoff need to be intact and sustained. Our roads and properties already flood enough due to our high water table, our power grid is already incredibly weak, forcing residents to have generators, and with a commercial warehouse it will not only make this issue worse but also contaminate our runoff and increase the air, soil, and noise pollution. It is going to ruin these neighborhoods on West Hurley Pond and throughout Carmerville Rd as well as the St. The buildings and connecting roads will be far too close to existing properties and families who have lived here for generations. They propose to widen Hurley Pond to a 4 lane highway to better suite the endless line of delivery semi-trucks which will add to the existing traffic from 34 to GSP, especially in the summer. We’ve already seen surveyors and markers set in the area. Please help us to show our local Wall twp zoning, environment and building departments to NOT allow this. There is a proposed plan to develop approximately 1.5 million square feet of warehouse space (Amazon) across 9 buildings.
